As the Libertarian candidate running against Ortiz and Quackenbush, I knew I would have trouble getting coverage in the media. Not only are my ideas often contrary to the editorial position of the local newspaper monopoly, but I don't have multi-thousand dollar donations from PACs and industry hoping to recoup their investment once I made it to the legislature.
Still, because I believe elections are as much about an exchange of ideas as they are about who wins the seat, I faced my opponents in eleven separate debates.
At the same time, I've watched The Bee run 6 articles on this race, never once mentioning anything that I stand for, and only mentioning my name in one article because I crashed a debate to which I hadn't been invited.
For The Bee to exclude me from their coverage does a disservice to the voters of Sacramento who may wish to hear from a candidate who opposes the War on Drugs, Proposition 1A, and general government trampling of individual rights.
